meet oona
Owner of Where the Buffalo Roam.
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Oona draws inspiration from a unique blend of influences: a Parisian mother who loved reading, eating lamb’s brain, and classical music, and a nature-loving father who revelled in dirt biking, burgers, and the tunes of Willie Nelson.

After moving to Canmore to ski and mountain bike, she discovered a passion for bartending. Recognizing a gap in dining and nightlife options, Oona sought to break away from the repetitive menus, back bars, and playlists that dominated the scene.
The vision was clear: create a welcoming, intimate space infused with great music, an Albertan touch, and a vintage French flair. With a focus on unique spirits, craft beer, and elevated comfort food, the aim was to foster a work environment where staff felt valued and inspired, and patrons felt at ease.
Where the Buffalo Roam Saloon was born as the Bow Valley’s first cocktail bar.
